Weight of Salt

A novella told in pieces, written to the divine feminine within us all. It isn’t a comfort read.

Cover of Weight of Salt: a mermaid drawn in cream line on deep teal, one hand over her heart, her hair streaming behind her.

Told in pieces

Each chapter belongs to one person, caught at the moment something in them has to give. Characters step onto the page, carry their weight for a while, and step off. Some don’t return until the final pages, when the thread tying them together finally shows.

It’s spare by design, closer to a parable than a plot, in the spirit of Jonathan Livingston Seagull. The story gives you the bones, and you bring the rest.

It’s written to the divine feminine within us all, for any reader, woman or man, who is ready to heal the feminine side of their soul.

A page from the book, printed as a parchment scroll: Here lies the threshold: cross into the tale, become of it, and carry its light upon your soul. A page from the book, printed as a parchment scroll with a knotwork seal: Cloaked in Shells of Faith.
Two pages from inside the book.

A note before you begin

This isn’t a comfort read. People have come away from it in very different places. Some found clarity and turned their lives around, some couldn’t finish it, and some found it held up a mirror they weren’t ready to look into.

If you’re on a healing path and mean it, this book may meet you there. If you’re hoping for permission to stay where you are, it won’t give you that.

Questions readers ask

Is this a mermaid story?

It is Book One of The Mermaid Chronicles, the book series of the Mystic Mermaid Universe, and the sea runs all the way through it. It is also closer to a parable than a plot. If you come for the mermaids, expect the book to ask something of you in return.

Why does it move from one person to the next?

That is the design. Each chapter belongs to one person, caught at the moment something in them has to give. They step onto the page, carry their weight for a while, and step off. Some do not return until the final pages, when the thread tying them together finally shows.

Who is it written for?

It is written to the divine feminine within us all: any reader, woman or man, who is ready to heal the feminine side of their soul. One reader compared it to Jonathan Livingston Seagull, and the comparison holds. It is short, spare, and leaves room for you.

Is it a hard read?

For some people, yes. Readers have come away from it in very different places. Some found clarity, some could not finish it, and some met a mirror they were not ready for. It asks you to take your own healing path seriously.

Why can't I find it on Amazon?

Tinge World titles are small editions sold three ways: through the Lulu Bookstore, direct from the publisher, and through independent shops. Weight of Salt is not sold on Amazon, Barnes & Noble or other large retailers.

How many copies are there?

The first edition is limited to 1,000 copies. Any later printing will be a second edition.
